Something to think about...

When I first heard of the movie "For Colored Girls" I got so excited. I had the idea of getting as many women together that I could think of to go see this movie. I had visions of group discussions and moments shared with one another that... would lead to healing and growth; I guess I kind of imagined a Women’s Empowerment Conference type of setting.

Well after I shared my idea with a few women, reality set in and I realized that so many of us wouldn't be willing to participate for various reasons: You don't like me, you don't care for somebody I might invite, you only hang out with certain people, you don't understand the big deal about Tyler Perry making yet another movie about black people and our issues for all the world to see, you don't like crowds, so n so is too ghetto, such and such is too uppity etc... It has ALWAYS amazed me that we as black women are each others biggest critics. We are the quickest to bring each other down, find each others faults and nit pick at a sister until she has nothing left, nothing left to give and then we step over her and call her worthless. We take the prettiest women and tear them down for thinking "they are cute" but turn around and dog the average sista because "she know she should take better care of herself than that - can't believe she got a man!" We call strong women female dogs and accuse weaker women of riding somebody else's coat tails. We tell a big sista to put down her burger and turn around and criticize a skinny woman for not picking one up. We ride the loud mouth woman for "talking to darn much" and likewise torment the quiet woman for "Being too quiet and needing to take up for herself" Sad part is we don't discriminate, we talk about everybody!!!

I've watched women dog out everybody from Oprah for catering to white people and Halle Berry for not being able to keep a man to young Willow Smith for acting to darn grown in her recent video. All of these females are successful and there is something about each one of them to be proud of but a lot of us can't seem to see that. I have to wonder since we all share a common thread (whether we want to admit it or not) is there something about ourselves that we don't like, what has happened to us that we cannot seem to get along. Why is that we fight amongst ourselves, backstab & steal each others men (only to find out we should have left him where we found him). We cannot seem to be unified to support and stick up for one another. Everybody seems to be out for themselves while other groups unite against us but nobody else has to bring us down because we trample on the spirits of each other daily.

Even if you live in a mini mansion, drive a luxury car, have good credit, rich handsome husband etc, this does not mean that should look down your nose at the woman with 4 kids, no husband, living in income based housing struggling to keep her lights on. We ALWAYS think the grass is greener on the other side, I had a woman who's child father is MIA tell me that I should never complain because I receive a decent amount of child support and I laughed and let her know that I would gladly give every dime back if he would come relieve some of this overwhelming pressure of feeling inadequate as a parent. If I could get just one full night of sleep or not always be on the verge of losing my job because I’m the one that has to call off or leave work for one reason or another to accommodate my child - yeah he could DEFINITELY have his money if I could have some peace! Money alone doesn't make you happy (not true happiness), good credit doesn't keep you satisfied, beauty doesn't make you any less insecure, fame doesn't make you less vulnerable or cause you to be a good judge of character and being stuck up and mean doesn't keep you warm at night or prevent you from being lonely.

You don't know how the sista sitting right next to could have carefully put on her make up this morning to hide the beating from last night. The teacher you handed your child over to this morning could have sent her children off to school from a dark house with empty bellies. The teller you just got rude with at the bank could know that today is her last day on her job and have no idea how she is going to survive past next weekend. The sista at the office that appears so busy could be typing her goodbyes to all the people that she loves because she plans to blow her brains out tonight after she tucks her babies into bed. The woman you pass in the hallway could be on her way to have an abortion because she fears what others might think or how the woman that sent you this e-mail may drink an over abundance of alcohol every night to mask the nightmares of an abusive childhood.

Ladies we HAVE TO DO BETTER!!! I'm not suggesting that we all like each other and be phony, but I am asking that we all try to respect each other. You HAVE NO IDEA what the next woman is going through, you don't know what past or current hurt and pains have shaped her into who she is today. We spend so much time trying to be as strong and hard as we are expected to be that we end up cracking from the inside out piece by piece. If we would spend 1/3 of the time we spend tearing each other down to build someone up, encourage someone, show someone some love, we could truly make a difference and save someone's life. PLEASE don't be the straw that breaks another woman's back. Believe me when I tell you that there is a woman out there that needs your smile, your hug, your support, your prayer.

I hope that you read this and get something out of it other than a laugh and that you pass this on to as many women as you can to let someone know that you believe they are somebody special and that if need be you are available to listen. Nothing bad is going to happen if you don't forward this e-mail but I'd like to think that something positive will happen if you choose to pass it along. May favor be extended to each and every one of your lives, keep your head up and know that someone somewhere cares!!!

A little more about me...

I don't really value loyalty. In my opinion, friendship should be earned. If I don't agree with someone, it doesn't matter how close we are, I'll let them and everyone else know exactly what I think. I am all about giving, as long as there's some give and take. I don't mind helping out a friend in need. But I know when I'm giving too much and have no problem saying "no!" I'm an easy going and humble person but occasionally that ego takes over lol. I have a slight competitive streak. I'm my own critic and a big time perfectionist. I think there are many truths in life, and I'm open to many of them.

GOOD VIRUS

Good Virus is all about the small things, tiny acts of kindness that don't cost a lot of money nor oblige praise. It's possible that many small acts of kindness may make more of a difference than a few big ones.

We are asking two "surprisingly difficult" questions:
1) What is the nicest thing that anyone has ever done for you?
2) What is the nicest thing that you have done for someone else?

Spread The Good Virus. Kindness Is Contagious!

A Film By David Gaz, Featuring Chane't Johnson

Left 4 Dead 2: Realism (Normal)

Dead Center: Mall

This level takes a lot of teamwork. I usually grab one good melee weapon and the combat shotgun. Oh! It's always good to grab an extra medic-pack. Once you and the team reach the bottom floor, grab the first gas can and pour it into the car's tank. We end up assigning each member like so:

1) Runner: You're responsible for running up each floor, grabbing the gas cans and throwing them to the bottom floor. To do this, grab the gas can (X) you need to have a little room to run toward the balcony and release it with the right trigger button). Repeat this for all. You will run into hunters, zombies, jockeys, smokers, spitters and chargers so get ready to defend yourself on your way to the next one.

2) Retriever: You're responsible for picking up the gas cans and running them back to the car. You can have 1 or 2 members do this.

3) Cover: You're responsible for covering the member putting gas in the tank. 1 or 2 of you can do this. Melee weapons are perfect for mass attack on those close up zombies. The big guns are good for the rest. There is a kiosk with the weapons and medic-packs. If the zombies are focusing on attacking the person pouring the gas, that would be a good place for you to shoot from as they come. Watch your back though. Some find their way to you from behind.

You have to collect 13 gas cans. All members  must reach the car to escape the Mall.

CHAKRAS Defined

Chakra 1—The Root Chakra

The root chakra is located at the base of the spine and is associated with the color red. It governs the material world, physical structure, and relationship issues; it also provides a sense of grounding, connection, place, and presence. It is the source of our passion and motivation. When balanced, this chakra promotes good health, high energy, and a feeling of security, both physically and financially. When our base chakra is deficient, we may become disorganized or unfocused; feel disconnected; or experience anxiety, restlessness, or fear. When this chakra is overactive, it can cause greed, fear of change, sluggishness, decreased energy, or laziness. Exercise, yoga, and massage are particularly successful in restoring balance to one’s base chakra. Complimentary gem stones include flame agate, ruby, red tiger’s eye, and garnet.

Chakra 2—The Sacral Chakra

The sacral chakra is located between the lower abdomen and the navel. Its color is orange. Relating to issues of sexuality, sensuality, creativity, intuition, and emotions—particularly fear and anger—this chakra governs intimacy and helps remove inhibitions. Characteristics of a balanced sacral chakra include graceful movements, kindness to self and others, balanced emotions, and the ability to enjoy pleasure without guilt. When deficient, we may be rigid in body or mind, exhibit poor social skills, or experience a general lack of desire. An excessive sacral chakra can result in extreme emotions, an addiction to pleasure or sex, over-sensitivity, or a propensity for crises. Dance, bodywork, and emotional release techniques can help restore balance. Carnelian, pietersite, fire agate, moonstone, and opal are a few gems that resonate with this chakra.

Chakra 3—The Solar Plexus Chakra

The solar plexus chakra is located between the sternum and the navel and is associated with the color yellow. Governing self-esteem, will, and vital energy, this chakra encourages clarity of thought and helps break old thought patterns. When balanced, it imparts a warm disposition, a healthy self-esteem, and a good sense of humor. It is also known for fostering responsibility and reliability. Deficiency in this chakra can lead to decreased physical and emotional energy and lack of self-discipline. Excessive solar plexus chakra causes aggression, manipulation, and deceit, often leading to controlling,
competitive, stubborn, and overly ambitious behavior. Physically, we may experience digestive or eating disorders, ulcers, or chronic fatigue. Core-strengthening exercises and Pilates help bring this chakra into balance. Its gem stones include calcite, golden citrine, amber, tiger’s eye, and labradorite.

Chakra 4—The Heart Chakra

Affiliated with the color green and located in the heart and chest, the heart chakra connects us to unconditional love and governs relationship issues. When revolving at its optimum frequency, this chakra brings peace, altruism, sincerity, and compassion. A weakened heart chakra can cause us to be anti-social and withdrawn, to be critical and judgmental, or to feel lonely and depressed. If excessive, we may be demanding or dependant, jealous or overly self-sacrificing. Physical effects of imbalance are centered in the heart and chest and include poor circulation, asthma, and tension between the shoulder blades. Yoga, breathing exercises, and journal writing can be effective in healing and balancing this chakra as can wearing aventurine, jade, plume agate, or rutilated quartz near your heart.

Chakra 5—The Throat Chakra

Located at the base of the throat and associated with the color blue, the throat chakra guides communication and creativity. A resonant voice, articulate speech, creativity, sense of timing and rhythm, and good listening skills are characteristics of a balanced throat chakra, while the inability to vocalize feelings, fear of speaking, and introversion are all signs of deficiency in this area. Singing, chanting, humming, or shouting can help restore balance to the throat chakra. Those with an excessive throat chakra may talk too much and not listen, have a loud, intrusive voice, and be prone to gossip. Observing silence and practicing active listening can help heal individuals experiencing too much throat chakra. Wear or carry turquoise, pearl, carnelian, sodalite, or aquamarine to promote balance in this chakra.

Chakra 6—The Brow or Third-Eye Chakra

The third-eye chakra, which governs imagination, intuition, dreams, thought, perception, and understanding, is located at the center of the forehead, above and between the eyes. Its color is a deep sea blue or indigo. When balanced, the brow chakra allows us to be perceptive, imaginative, and intuitive. When deficient, we can experience poor vision or memory, suffer from a lack of imagination, or have difficulty remembering dreams or envisioning the future. If this chakra is too strong, however, it can cause one to become detached from reality, suffer nightmares or delusions, or have difficulty concentrating. The physical effects of an imbalanced brow chakra include headaches and vision problems. Painting, drawing, meditating, and keeping a dream journal are all helpful in bringing balance to this chakra. Resonating gemstones include amethyst, sapphire, azurite, iolite, and lapis lazuli.

Chakra 7—The Crown Chakra

Located at the top of the head, the crown chakra is our energetic connection to spiritual consciousness, wisdom, and the Divine. It is here that we connect with the universe and experience understanding that is beyond words or intellect. The color associated with this chakra is violet, white, or gold. When functioning at optimum frequency, this chakra allows us to be open-minded, intelligent, thoughtful, and wise. It can enable us to understand and learn information easily and experience a sense of spiritual connection. If it is weak, however, it can cause us to ridicule spirituality, be cynical and rigid in our thoughts, or be apathetic and overly materialistic. Healing techniques include meditation and active open-mindedness. When the crown chakra is excessive, we tend to live ‘too much in the head,’ and out of touch with our own body. In this instance, activities that promote reconnecting the physical body with the earth, such as gardening, exercise, and massage, are most healing. Quartz crystal, topaz, alexandrite, danburite, and moldavite are the gemstones associated with this chakra.

Photoshop Class Projects

Okay, so I've been doing hands on training in photo shop for my promotions company Gemini, Ltd. and created some fliers for events. I decided to go to school for Graphic Arts and Designs to make it official SO this blog will have some of the classwork...*cough They are EXTREMELY basic, simple whatever you may call it but it's all to better my skills at it.

So, this one is a "flier" for a Robot Building Contest. It's suppose to be fun and light-hearted. What can be more fun and light-hearted than GIR from Invader Zim? For this I'm supposed to learn the airbrush tool, changing hues and saturation, using the sharpen, blur, burn and dodge tools.

This one was an "magazine ad" for a flower shop. The lesson was to make text with drop shadow and bevel and emboss.
This was a "school flier" to open up the PB& J pre-school. Had to have fun with the gradient feature.

This was to advertise a restaurants new "herb-infused oil" products. I just had to copy and paste together images to match the advertisement requirements.

INTRO: Our DNA has been evolving 100 times more rapidly in the last 5000 years due to a natural galactic process which is also creating climate change throughout our entire solar system. If the prophecies are correct, psychic abilities and powers such as telekinesis, levitation, spiritual healing and telepathy may soon become as common as breathing.

Food for Thought: Dalai Lama

“This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.”

“I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy. From the very core of our being, we desire contentment. In my own limited experience I have found that the more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warmhearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope with any obstacles we encounter. It is the principal source of success in life. Since we are not solely material creatures, it is a mistake to place all our hopes for happiness on external development alone. The key is to develop inner peace.”

“I believe that the very purpose of our life is to seek happiness. That is clear. Whether one believes in religion or not, whether one believes in this religion or that religion, we all are seeking something better in life. So, I think, the very motion of our life is towards happiness.”

“We can live without religion and meditation, but we cannot survive without human affection.”

“If you don't love yourself, you cannot love others. You will not be able to love others. If you have no compassion for yourself then you are not able of developing compassion for others.”

“We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves.”

“If you have a particular faith or religion, that is good. But you can survive without it.”

Haters; Home Wreckers; Party Poopers

Definition of a Hater:
A person that simply cannot be happy for another person's success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person. Hating, the result of being a hater, is not exactly jealousy. The hater doesn't really want to be the person he/she hates, rather the hater wants to knock someone else down a notch

Definition of a Home Wrecker:
A female (male) trying to steal a man (woman) from another woman (man)

Definition of a Party Pooper:
A person that ruins a festive moment with their attitude.
